How do I build a Talk Tree?

Building a Talk Tree is as simple as creating audio recording (or a transcript) of a classroom lesson and uploading it directly to our secure servers. This can be done on any device with a built-in microphone, including Apple or Android phones, tablets, and laptops. Don’t worry, we delete all your data once the tree is generated.
Capture the conversation
You don't need special equipment to record. Simply use your device’s built-in app. For iPhones, open the "Voice Memos" app and tap the red button to start. For Androids, look for "Voice Recorder" or "Sound Recorder" and press record. Alternatively, look for any of the built-in applications in your laptop—”Voice Memos” for MacOS, “Sound Recorder” for Windows 11, or “Voice Recorder” for Windows 10—to create your audio recording. Each of these apps typically saves a new audio recording in a default location. You can find default file location information by consulting your app’s support documentation.
Where should I place the microphone?
Microphone placement matters. To capture classroom conversations for your Talk Tree in the best possible way, place your device in a central location such as a desk in the middle of the room. The goal is for your device to pick up all of your students' great contributions as clearly as possible.
Upload your recording
Ready to upload? Navigate to app.talktrees.ai on your device. If you don't have an account yet, you will first need to sign up using the special registration code we provided to you.
Once logged into your Talk Trees dashboard, choose "Upload Recording" to submit a recorded session. Click or tap to browse your device’s files. On an iPhone, check the "Files" app under "On My iPhone" or directly in Voice Memos. On Android, look in your "Audio" or "My Files" folder. On your laptop, find the location where you saved the recording. Select your recording to begin. You can also upload a transcript.
